Double investment in quality

During the second half of 2006, Alfred G Pearce invested heavily in upgrading production facilities at two of its sites in East Anglia.

June saw the installation of new washing and grading lines at the prepared produce site, at a cost of around £500,000. The new lines pass the washed and graded produce into chilled holding tanks, where it is held in peak condition until it is transferred to the factory for preparation. This has effectively eliminated all manual handling; from field to factory, the entire process is automated.

In November, the fruits of a further £400.000 investment were seen, with the opening of new industrial bulk washing and topping lines for carrots and parsnips at the company's Tilney site - one more illustration of AGP's determination to lead the field in the UK.
